Speech & Language Evaluations

A comprehensive evaluation designed to understand your child’s unique communication strengths, needs, and goals. Evaluations may include observation, play-based activities, standardized assessments, and caregiver input to build a complete picture of your child’s communication skills.

Following the evaluation, you will receive a clear summary of findings and individualized recommendations to support your child’s speech and language development. When appropriate, we will work together to develop a therapy plan that is meaningful, practical, and tailored to your child and family.

Caregiver & Team Consultation

Collaborative consultation designed to help the important adults in your child’s life feel confident and supported in fostering communication development. Consultations may include caregivers, teachers, childcare providers, and other members of your child’s care team.

Together, we’ll discuss your child’s communication needs, identify practical strategies, and develop ways to support speech and language goals within everyday routines and natural environments. The goal is to create consistency across settings and empower caregivers and team members with tools that make communication opportunities feel natural and achievable.

AAC Evaluation and Consultation

Comprehensive Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) evaluation and consultation to help identify the communication tools and supports that best fit your child’s individual needs. Services may include feature-matching assessments, AAC device and system trials, and caregiver consultation to determine the most appropriate communication system.

We can also support families through the process of accessing insurance-funded speech-generating devices, including documentation and recommendations needed to support device acquisition.

Following the evaluation, families receive individualized implementation strategies to help their child use their AAC system successfully across everyday routines and environments.

Do we accept insurance?

Pathways to Speech currently offers services on a private-pay basis and is not in-network with insurance providers. For families with out-of-network benefits, we can provide a coded, itemized receipt (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Insurance plans vary, so families are responsible for contacting their insurance provider to understand their out-of-network benefits, coverage requirements, and whether a superbill is accepted for reimbursement. Some plans may also require prior authorization or other documentation.

Choosing private-pay services offers families greater flexibility and allows therapy to be tailored to each child’s individual needs without insurance-related restrictions. Benefits may include:

  • No physician referral required

  • Greater flexibility in the types of services provided

  • No insurance-imposed limits on the number of therapy sessions

  • Transparent, upfront pricing with no unexpected insurance-related fees

Our goal is to make accessing high-quality, individualized speech and language therapy as straightforward and flexible as possible for your family.
